A police station chief of Tipu Sultan Police Station has been arrested on charges of kidnapping citizen for ransom.
Station House Officer (SHO) Saleem Rajput was caught red-handed by Anti-Violent Crime Cell personnel for abducting two traders and later seeking Rs 2 million ransom from family members.
A case has also been registered against him.
Sources informed that the SHO had tainted record in police service.
He was previously also found involved in criminal activities and was later suspended. He could now be dismissed from service, the source added.
