Our brutish attack on the offices of Samaa and ARY is being taken in the wrong context and totally misrepresented, said MQM leader Altaf Hussain on Saturday.
“Yes, sure it was a violent attack and yes, we thrashed about working journalists and non-journalists alike at their office,” he said, speaking to reporters at his London office. “But nobody bothers to look at the context of the attack and the spirit of the attack.”
“These channels weren’t giving us coverage because of the ban that the court had slapped on them. Yes, many of the top brass at these channels thought themselves that the ban was an example of unjustified judicial activism,” he said. “But the fact of the matter is that it was still on these channels that we were not able to find our coverage and hence the attack had to be done. That was the only reason, I swear.”
“If Karachi’s numaainda jamaat can’t practice an honest-to-God suppression of the press, then what hope should we have left in the fascist process?”
“This is very sad,” he said, after taking a sip of water and placing the glass back on MQM leader Wasay Jalil’s head.
