Media Watch: Badami breaks the internet

No one can write about the drama unfolding about Amir Liaqat. The guy is a train-wreck in the aftermath of the latest MQM saga. He doesn’t know which horse to back and has ended up backing all of them and none of them.

First, he used to be like the sine wave: he joined the MQM, left it, joined it and left it, ad nauseum. This current state, however, is more complicated.

Though no one, not in the least the good “Doctor” himself, has been able to make any sense out of it, it was Waseem Badami that juiced the situation for its highest comedic value.

On ARY, at pains to give an analogy describing his current decision to leave politics, Liaquat asked Badami, “have you seen that movie…?”

Without skipping a beat, Badami saw the moment and asked, “Ghalib?”

The internet went wild.

This is an inside joke, with some asking what the big deal was. Well, you need to have watched an older, viral video of his. I doubt there would be many who haven’t yet watched that infamous viral video. But I am truly envious who the few who haven’t, because they get to watch Amir Liaquat is his full glory for the first time.

The first hit of cocaine, they say, is the best time. All subsequent hits are chasing that first high. The same is the case with this caught-on-tape video of Amir Liaqat’s. Truly envious of those who get to watch it for the first time.

Post-script: Whom am I kidding? It’s still awesome.
