CM Shehbaz meets delegation of Turkish Housing Development Administration

Turkish delegation assured full cooperation to Punjab government

 

 Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with a high-level delegation of Housing Development Administration Turkey (TOKI), a world-renowned Turk institution in the housing sector in Istanbul, today (Saturday).

The delegation expressed interest in investment in the housing sector, especially the construction of low-cost houses in Punjab. It was agreed in the meeting that experts of TOKI will visit Punjab in October and finalise the project of construction of quality low-cost houses for low-income families in the province.

Speaking on the occasion, Sharif said that Punjab government is implementing a comprehensive programme for the provision of shelter to low-income segments and construction of quality low-cost houses and their provision to low-income families is its priority. He said that quality houses will be built for low-income families in Punjab with the cooperation of Turkey and Punjab government will welcome the cooperation of TOKI in this regard.

He said that maximum benefit will be taken from the experience and expertise of the Turk institution and the programme of construction of low-cost houses will be speedily implemented. He said that during the visit of Turk experts in the housing sector to Punjab, construction of low-cost quality houses in Wahdat Colony as a pilot project will also be considered.

The chief minister said that housing sector is making a rapid progress in Pakistan, especially Punjab and there is a vast scope of investment in this sector. Sharif proposed setting up a joint committee of Punjab government and TOKI, through which Punjab government will benefit from the skill and experience of TOKI and the capacity of the institution concerned will be enhanced. He said that the meeting with the officials of TOKI has been extremely useful and the Turk institution will extend cooperation to Punjab government in the construction of low-cost quality houses in the future.

The delegation of TOKI, while expressing its views, appreciated the vision of CM Shehbaz regarding the construction of low-cost quality houses and assured full cooperation to Punjab government in this regard.

Meanwhile, the CM held a meeting with the heads of investment companies and business houses in Istanbul. Turk investors and businessmen expressed a keen interest in investment in various sectors in Pakistan. He said that the investment by Turk brethren will be welcomed. He said that Punjab government is extending special incentives and facilities to foreign investors. Sharif said, “Pakistan today is more safe and peaceful than before.”

He said that Pakistan’s economy has substantially improved due to effective measures that were taken by the government. He said that energy crisis will be overcome to a large extent by 2017. He said that it is a golden opportunity for Turk investors to benefit from investment opportunities in Pakistan, especially Punjab. Provincial Minister Rana Sanaullah, Members National Assembly Perviaz Malik, Shaista Pervaiz Malik, Kh Ahmad Hasaan and other members of Pakistani delegation were also present on the occasion.
