Death toll in IHK rises to 85

One youth was martyred and over two hundred others were injured in the brutal actions of Indian forces on peaceful protesters across the Indian occupied Kashmir Valley.

A large number of people took to the streets in Srinagar, Badgam, Ganderbal, Bandipore, Kupwara, Islamabad, Bijbehara, Baramulla, Sopore, Palhallan, Pattan, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and other areas, yesterday, and held massive demonstrations against the killing spree unleashed by Indian troops and police in the Valley,reported Kashmir Media Service.

They shouted pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans. They also waved Pakistani flags. Indian forces’ personnel fired pellets, bullets and teargas shells to disperse the protesters at various places injuring more than two hundred of people, many of them critically.

A youth, Shakeel Ahmad Ganai, who was injured in Haal area of Pulwama district succumbed to his injuries at the district hospital in Pulwama. The 19-year-old Shakeel Ahmad Ganai, a student of B.A, was hit by a bullet in the chest.

With this killing, the death toll in the ongoing Kashmiri Intifada has risen to 85. The Intifada was triggered by the extra-judicial murder of the top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, Burhan Wani, by Indian troops on July 8, this year.

The angry protesters set ablaze effigies of the puppet Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti in Srinagar and Pulwama areas to protest against her remarks that only five percent people were supporting the ongoing uprising in the territory.
