Rangers arrested people affiliated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and two target killers in Karachi, who were involved in various criminal activities.
Rehan Ali alias Chikna, Zubair alias Achu and Javed were from MQM London secretariat and 4 rilfes, SMG, and many bullets were recovered from them. All of them were involved in target killings.
In Malir, Rangers raided an office and arrested two MQM members, sector incharge Hasan Alam and Joint Sector In charge Talha Warsi, who were involved in attacks on media houses. Two women involved in attacks on media houses were also arrested.
According to reports, police conducted an operation in Manghupir area of Karachi on an intelligence report that target killers are present in the area upon which the accused opened fire at the police party. Police returned the fire after which two target killers were arrested.
The arrested target killers were identified as Asif Ismail and Abid Ustad alias Kaka. Police sources said that the arrested target killers belonged to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
Sources further informed that the arrested target killer have confessed killing of people belonging the Ismaili and Bohri sects. They also confessed to murdering several other people.
Police have also recovered arms and a motorcycle from their possession.
Meanwhile, authorities’ against illegally-constructed offices of the MQM continued on Saturday with 14 offices razed and over 220 sealed in Karachi so far.
MQM offices constructed on lands allotted for parks and other public places were demolished, while in fresh action party’s unit office situated in Karachi University’s staff colony was evacuated.
Seven more party offices in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, New Town, Kharadar, Meetha Dar and Railways Colony were demolished on Friday and early Saturday. A day ago, seven MQM offices were flattened in Bhains Colony, Sachchal, Airport, Tariq bin Ziad Society and Quaidabad.
So far, 14 party offices have been demolished and 218 sealed in Karachi.
Residents kept watching as heavy machinery leveled the offices. A few opportunists were also seen plundering things out of the rubble.
Officials said that 178 of party unit offices and 22 sector offices are situated on encroached lands. They said that a decision has been made to immediately demolish 32 of these offices, while others would be razed gradually.
Meanwhile, Karachi University administration said that MQM unit office in the staff colony has also been evacuated, while MQM posters, party flags and portraits of the party head Altaf Hussain have also been removed from the campus.
