Japanese investors keen to invest in Pakistan, says Nikon MD

 Japanese investors are keen to enhance their investment in Pakistan which has potential and resources to become one of the biggest economic powers of Asia.

This was stated by the Japan Nikon Competition Managing Director Naoki Onozato while talking to the LCCI Vice President Nasir Saeed at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday.

He said that being a good friend, Japan is particularly focusing on Pakistan for technological advancement. In this connection, Nikon in collaboration with Camtronx Pakistan is arranging Nikon classes, seminars, photo walks, tours of renowned Pakistan’s photographers and workshops and also educating the talented students of the colleges and universities about digital photo and videography.

He said that Nikon and Camtronx will continue its endeavours aimed at equipping the youth of Pakistan with modern technologies to bring them at par with the day-by-day changing international scenarios. He also lauded the efforts of Camtronx Pakistan to inject the latest technology to Pakistan’s youth regarding imaging products and uplifting Pakistan’s digital imaging industry up to the mark level.

He said that research to identify areas of economic cooperation between Pakistan and Japan can help double the existing trade volume. Chambers of Commerce and Industry of both countries can play an important role in this regard, he added.

Nasir Saeed, while thanking the Nikon MD for visiting the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that Japan is playing a laudable role in the economic uplifting of Pakistan and striving to deepen mutual understanding through economic exchanges. He said that latest technology of Nikon, Japan has brought a revolution in the fields of photo and videography. He also lauded Nikon’s initiative to hold seminars and workshops in Pakistan to give awareness and knowledge sharing to the Pakistani entrepreneurs and talented students.

Saeed said that there is a great scope for establishing joint ventures between business communities of the two countries. He said that Pakistan gives great importance to its relations with Japan, as Japan is an important friend of Pakistan.

He said that Japan is a major donor to Pakistan as well as an important trading partner.

Saeed said that Pakistan has strong economic and commercial ties with Japan, but these relations need to be capitalised to attain a greater share in Japanese markets.

“The best way for us is to identify the areas where we can cooperate with each other. It goes without saying that the role of Japanese Embassy is of key importance,” he added.

He said that frequent exchange of sector-specific delegations can make the representatives of Japanese private sector explore the opportunities of trade and investment in Pakistan.

He said that Pakistan is struggling to address the energy crisis. There is a huge scope in the field of energy sector. We direly need technologies in renewable/alternate energy, solar energy and wind energy, etc. He said that it is an era of out-sourcing. Pakistan has been gifted with a large number of labour resources who are educated, skilled and hardworking. He said that Pakistan will welcome any initiative taken to transfer of technology to Pakistan for assembling purposes. It will be beneficial for both the countries.
