Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab Leader and former governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has demanded immediate establishment of local bodies and execution of census as not doing both of them is akin to murder of democracy.
He was addressing a PTI workers convention with many others, including PTI Leader Syed Samsam Bukhari, ITF Leader Waseem Ch, Ayshe Nazir Jutt and others. He said that the government doesn’t want to transfer powers at the grass-roots level because it is running a one-man show in Punjab.
He also said that the government must undertake the census exercise before the upcoming elections so that the real count of population and information can be compiled.
PMLN is creating hindrances in the way of getting a census done, however, PTI requests the Supreme Court to issue immediate orders of holding a census in the country, he added.
“Several months have passed since the local bodies elections, but till date the Punjab government has not granted any powers which is the nullification of democracy and we condemn it,” he said.
PTI leader Samsam Bukhari said that if rulers want to strengthen and secure democracy then they must correct their governance methodology. He said that children being abducted for organs are another great cause of concern where parents feel insecure and are worried about their children’s security. Today, criminals are feeling more secure than ever in Punjab, he quipped.
