Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader and Member National Assembly (MNA) Asif Hasnain was taken into custody by Rangers, sources said on Thursday.
According to sources, the Rangers detained Hasnain from Karachi Airport when he was leaving for Islamabad. He has been shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
Sources said that Husnain had visited the paramilitary officials when he was summoned two days ago for interrogation after Dr Farooq Sattar’s press conference.
Meanwhile, according to reports, MQM Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Shiraz Waheed was also arrested in Karachi on Thursday.
He was arrested from Landhi area on charges of distributing controversial CDs in the area.
The police confirmed that an FIR under Anti-Terrorism Act has been registered against the MPA.
