Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif said that there was no option left but to distance himself from MQM chief Altaf Hussain whose inflammatory speech on Monday incited party workers to attack media houses in Karachi.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Barrister Saif condemned the party chief’s anti-Pakistan speech and the ensuing violence that left one dead and at least eight injured.
“We are the children of people who created Pakistan. Our ancestors gave huge sacrifices to create this country,” he said.
Altaf’s speech, delivered at Karachi Press Club to participants of the hunger strike organised by MQM, incited party workers to take to the streets, ransack ARY News’ office, vandalise property, carry out arson and pelt stones at police.
