Takht Bhai Railway flyover to be completed within weeks

The work on Takht Bhai Railway crossing on Nowshehra-Chitral Highway (N-45) would be completed within a couple of weeks and its opening will facilitate the people and will ensure smooth flow of traffic.

An official of National Highway Authority (NHA) said that its work has been nearly completed and only a few beam girders are left to be placed on the pier caps.

He said that Takht Bhai Flyover contract was awarded in November 28, 2012 and its work started from February 6, 2013, adding that the cost of the original contract was Rs 582.124 million which was revised to Rs 851.524 million. The original length of the bridge was 0.225 kilometres which was revised to 0.600 kilometres, the official said.

Justifying the delay in its construction on the project, the NHA official said that the delay occurred due to the change in its original plan and design.

He said that the government also considers the project of great importance as the flyover is a gateway to 11 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and will benefit millions of people.
