At least nine people were killed and 35 others injured including women and children in a road accident in Thatta near Jhirk district.
Five children and three women died when a collision took place between a truck and a bus. The identities of those killed have not been confirmed as yet.
According to the reports, the van was heading to Shahadat Kot from Karachi when the unfortunate incident occurred near Jharak
The casualties were transported to Thatta Civil Hospital at Makli for treatment, from where 10 people with serious injuries were shifted to hospitals in Hyderabad and Karachi.
The bus was heading to Shahdad Kot from Karachi when it collided with a truck, police officials said. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Thatta Fida Hussain Mastoi said the bus was trying to overtake a truck carrying a load of stones when it collided with the vehicle.
Those among the casualties are from Larkana, Dadu and Qambar-Shahdadkot districts, the SSP said.
No case has been registered within the limits of Jhirk police station as yet.
