Rs 700 million released for renovation of dilapidated school buildings

The Punjab government released a grant amounting to Rs 700 million for renovation and repair of dilapidated school buildings of Rawalpindi District and provision of basic facilities in these schools.

A grant of Rs 16 million has been released separately for setting up computer labs in 16 schools throughout the district.

According to Punjab government statistics, Rs 590 million has been provided for renovation and rehabilitation of dangerous and dilapidated buildings of the schools while funds amounting to Rs 100 million have been released for extending basic facilities in these schools.

After this action, only 18 out of 421 high and higher secondary schools will be left where computer lab facilities will not be available. Last year, computer labs were set up in 143 schools and labs were modernised in 30 schools and old computers were shifted to officers.
