India’s refusal to resolve Kashmir

India has once again cleverly had accepted Pakistan’s offer for Negotiations and at the same time refused to talk about Kashmir dispute. They would rather center talks on the cross border terrorism. Secretary of Foreign Affairs has earlier sent invitation to his counterpart to hold talks in accordance with the U.N resolutions to resolve the more than half a century old dispute amicably.

The Indian foreign secretary replied apparently accepted the offer but declared that Kashmir is India’s integral part. Can any sensible diplomat tell us whether India has accepted or rejected the offer. I think India has simply declined to negotiate.

India has been avoiding the resolution of Kashmir for decades in a clever and most cunning manner. American supporters of India would say that it’s a positive response. But in fact India has cleverly extricated itself shifting on Pakistan to hold talks.

International Community can keep its eyes shut in the face of genocide of Kashmiris by Indian Armed Forces. But it has to accept that Kashmir Freedom Movement is purely local. Though India is trying to give impression that Pakistan is responsible for the new wave of violence and that somehow it is engineered by Pakistan – but everyone knows that Pakistan has nothing to do with it.

The people of Kashmir want to break the cycle of slavery and are fighting for their birth right i.e. freedom. No one can deny this inalienable right to the millions of suffering Kashmiris. In the present wave of fresh violence India is trying to stifle their voice. Even the former State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has absolved Pakistan for any role in this freedom movement.

Obama Administration should exert its influence over India to resolve the Kashmir dispute. But it has not done it so far even as Kashmir is bleeding. The best way is that U.N. should pressurise India to resolve the outstanding Kashmir Issue in terms of its resolutions.
