A ban has been imposed on setting up cattle markets for Eidul Azha in areas of Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantt due to security concerns and threat of Congo virus.

According to sources, the Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantt authorities imposed a ban on establishing cattle markets and selling cattle alongside roads in connection with Eidul Azha due to the fear of spreading Congo fever through sacrificial animals.

Cantt Board Secretary Qaisar Mehmood said millions of rupees were collected from auctions of cattle market every year but this year, the ban will remain in place on setting up these cattle markets due to security concerns and threat of Congo fever.
