At least 18 suspects were arrested by the Rangers and other law enforcement agencies during combing operations in Karachi and Lahore on Wednesday.
According to a spokesperson for the paramilitary force, the Rangers arrested at least six suspects, including two target killers Kashif and Junaid, from Karachi. Both the killers, taken into custody during a search operation in Bahadurabad area of Karachi, belonged to the militant wing of a political party, the spokesperson said, adding they confessed to their involvement in several killings in Karachi.
The two were also involved in the May 12 violence and murders of advocate Sohail Anjum and advocate Waheed Ahmed. They also confessed to having killed at least six workers of the Sunni Tehreek in another terror incident.
Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies arrested at least 12 suspects during a combing operation in Lahore.
Nationwide combing operations were launched following a deadly suicide attack in Quetta that killed more than 70, mostly lawyers and media professionals, and wounded several others.
