Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Social Welfare Minister Shamim Mumtaz on Tuesday handed over a cheque of Rs 10 million to the family of slain qawwal Amjad Sabri at his residence.
Amjad Sabri’s mother, children and younger brother were present on the occasion.
Talking to media, the provincial minister said that Amjad Sabri was a world renowned qawwal and his absence would always be felt.

There was no substitute for a human life but the amount provided by the Sindh government to the bereaved family would be utilised for the education, health and other expenditures of Sabri’s children, Shamim Mumtaz said.
The Sindh government had fulfilled one of its promises by providing monetary assistance on the directions of the chief minister, she added.
Mumtaz said that on the directives of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and former President Asif Ali Zardari, the process of establishing an institute named after Amjad Sabri was also in progress which would be materialised very soon.

The minister further said the Sindh government was also ready to provide Amjad Sabri’s wife with a job, and in case if she didn’t want to opt for it, the job opportunity could be availed by any brother of the late qawwal.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif last month announced a Rs10 million grant as financial support for the family of famed qawwal Amjad Sabri.
In a statement released by his office, the PM also said the federal government will bear the educational expenses of Sabri’s children.

His contribution through a promotion of love and tolerance all around the world is unmatched and unparalleled in recent times .
