- PTI submits reference for PM’s disqualification under Articles 62 and 63 to NA speaker
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has submitted a reference to National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, seeking disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
The reference, submitted after approval by a PTI parliamentary committee, states that as per Articles 62 and 63, Nawaz Sharif is no more trustworthy and eligible for the slot of prime minister after Panama Leaks disclosers.
Prepared by PTI’s Hamid Khan and Naeem Bukhari, the reference was presented to Ayaz Sadiq by Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Shireen Mazari and other PTI leaders.
Talking to media, party’s Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said all the opposition parties had a consensus on the Panama Leaks issue, adding that if the government invited them, talks on Terms of Reference (ToRs) could be held.
Qureshi, to a question, said the PTI would announce its future strategy in its next meeting.
He also expressed apprehensions over what he called the National Assembly’s double standard, deploring the fact that when the PML-N submitted a reference against PTI Chairman Imran Khan, media was allowed to cover this event, but when the PTI brought a disqualification reference against the prime minister, media coverage was not allowed.
