Islamabad District Bar Association (IDBA) President Syed Muhammad Tayyab on Tuesday stressed upon the need of having fool proof security of district courts at F-8 Markaz.

Around 5000 to 6000 people visit the courts for their cases and around 100 judges sit at various courts. The few walk-through gates installed for security purpose are also out of order, he said.

The IDBA president said security was not only the issue of lawyers and judges but that of hundreds of people who visit the courts daily.

To a question whether some security loopholes were identified by the lawyers’ community around court after Quetta incident, he said the reservations about security measures had already been conveyed to the Islamabad Capital Territory administration and police.

“These are technical aspects and it is up to them as how to cover them,” he maintained.

When contacted, Islamabad police said security had been tightened in Sector F-8 and also around the lower courts especially for lawyers, judges and visiting people.

The police said all available resources are being utilised for this purpose and a boundary wall has been erected around the court besides installing walk-through gates at entry points. More than 150 police personnel have also been assigned security duties there, he added.

At least six police pickets have been erected in the vicinity of the court while rapid response force continuously patrols there, the police added.
