Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl’s (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Monday opposed the “forced repatriation” of Afghan refugees residing in Pakistan saying “the move is likely to instill hate among Afghans against Pakistan.

“I warn the government of Pakistan against repatriating Afghan refugees through use of force,”Fazl said while addressing a gathering in the federal capital.

The JUI-F chief said, “It would not be appropriate to send the refugees back to the land of war, blood and fire after hosting them for around 35 years.”

“Force repatriation of Afghan refugees will not benefit our cause, except making the Afghans an enemy of Pakistan,” Fazl maintained.

He advised the government to make new friends in the World instead of turning everyone into an enemy of the country.

“We cannot afford to lose the sympathies of Afghan refugees by sending them back forcefully,” Fazl added.

He was of the view that it was not the right time for repatriation of Afghan refugees as, according to him, “the security situation in Afghanistan was not suitable”.

“We can take care of Afghan refugees for a year or more but cannot push them back to the valley of death,” he asserted.

JUI-F is the second ally party of the incumbent government which has opposed the repatriation of Afghan refugees.

Earlier, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai had also warned the PML-N government against repatriation of Afghan refugees.

Jamaat-i-Islami is also against the repatriation process under the present circumstances.

The government, however, has set a deadline of December 31, 2016, for the repatriation of Afghan refugees residing in Pakistan — and is insistent that it will not extend the deadline.

  1. Pakistan has payed With blood sweat and tears for Afghanistani refugees. We took them With open arms. The demography of Pakistan has changed. We are not FORCING them to Return. We are asking them to og back and help to build their country . We are willing to help Afghanistan economically. Is there an example in any part of the world where a country has taken inso many refugees and cared for them for so long.? Afghanistan has been always a violent country and will continue to be one. The interests of Pakistan come first. It is not a time for politics.

  2. Stop supporting the terrorists, if you did so, Afghanistan will be a peaceful place, hence no afghan would want to stay in that part of India.

  3. Pakistan has been playing a double game, when Russian attacked Afghanistan at the time afghan refugees were warmly welcomed because it was afghan blood and lives that was lost 2.5 million afghan lost their lives if afghan did not fight the Russian at the time Afghanistan and Pakistan would have been part of USSR now remember Pakistan was not nuclear power at the time. since the clash on torkham border afghan refugees has become criminal, terrorist and burden on Pakistan.pakistani military establishment policy is to make the pashton slaves regardless which side of the border they are infact implementing American policies. they have imposed strict border control on torkham border remember in 1905 the british indian and afghan government has signed an agreement within 5 miles of the border free movement will be allowed.
if you are saying terrorist are crossing into Pakistan they got a border of 2250 km to cross into Pakistan by the way ISI support for Taliban will always be there until the afghan government accept the Durand lane an official border.
