The Turkish Embassy on the occasion of Independence Day of Pakistan on Sunday paid rich tributes to Bi Amma and her sons Maulana Shaukat Ali and Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar, the leading figures of Khilafat Movement.

The embassy on its twitter account wrote, “Remembering Bi Amma with gratitude. Boli Amma Muhammad Ali Ki Jaan Baita Khilafat Pay De Do.”

It is worth mentioning here that Maulana Shaukat Ali and Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar were among the leading figures of Khilafat Movement, which was a pan-Islamic political protest campaign launched by Muslims in British India to influence the British government.

During the sessions of the All India Muslim League in 1917, Bi Amma had delivered the most touching and forceful speech which left a lasting effect on the Muslim Ummah. While her sons were still in jail the bold and venerable mother kept alive the fervour for the Khilafat Movement.

She toured the country, addressed large gatherings of people, which flocked to hear her and exhorted them to follow the footsteps of her great sons in their struggle for the unity and fraternity of the Ummah.

“Boli Amma Muhammad Ali Ki Jaan Baita Khilafat Pay De Do” became household words and were sung in every nook and corner of the sub-continent by all sections of people irrespective of caste, creed or sect.
