Samaiya’s murder

A British woman of Pakistan origin was brutally murdered by her ex -husband by strangulation. Ch. Shakeel has confessed to the crime during the police investigations. It was revealed by the police authorities that he killed her with her dupatta. It was all done in the name of honour. I question, what honour is attached to killing of a human being? What is more important: the name of the family or the life of the individual?

Murder by invoking honor has become a pass time. Women are slain for peculiar and odd reasons which cannot be justified to kill a human being. Do they believe & remember the Judgment Day? The jilted former spouse planned his wife’s murder with her father, how callous & ignorant a father can be? The accused were given to police on four day remand for further investigations.

I think a murder is a murder. It is neither honor killing nor a thing to cherish. We must educate our people in the teachings of Islam – which has declared murder a heinous & abominable act. Samaiya committed no crime by contracting a second marriage after divorce to a man of her own choice. The culprits should be given severe punishment.
