Mufti Abdul Qavi who was nominated as a possible suspect in the Qandeel Baloch murder case has gone in hiding, police said on Monday.
His phone has been switched off and he cannot be traced, police further told.
A team has been formed to arrest the cleric who made headlines for appearing in a video with slain social media sensation Qandeel Baloch.
A video showed Qandeel shaking hands with Qavi as she sat on the arm of a sofa by his side. Qavi was suspended from the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in the controversy following the video posts.
He was nominated in the case through a court order. Others accused in the case Waseem, Haq Nawaz and Basit will be produced in the court t.
Qavi in a press conference held last month denied his involvement in the murder. However, Qandeel’s mother in a press statement claimed that the cleric instigated his son Waseem to kill Qandeel as she was ‘ruining the family’s honour’.
