Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tariq Masood Yasin has said that the Capital Police is endeavouring to promote friendly police ecology and arranging various sports programmes as well as extracurricular activities for students to inculcate better police image in their mind.
He stated this while speaking as the chief guest at the concluding ceremony of Police Summer School on Monday. Islamabad police had set up a 30-day summer camp for children ageing between four years and 14 years at Police Lines Headquarters H-11, Islamabad. The children of these ages were given admission in basic computer learning, swimming, horse riding, martial arts and other courses.
AIG General Nisar Ahmad Tanoli, SSP Security Mir Vais Niaz, SSP Headquarters Muhammad Bin Ashraf, SP Headquarter Sumaira Azam and other police officials attended the ceremony.
Yasin said that children today are our next generation and a good image of the police department in their minds is crucial for positive change. The friendly attitude of Islamabad police is reflected through the attitude during training in this summer school he said, and urged the parents to encourage their children for participation in various games as per their aptitude. He said a little guidance can make them good sportsmen and advised the children to obey their parents for success in life.
The IGP further said the aim of holding such camps in police vicinity is to bridge the gap between the police and public. ICT police are striving to strengthen the police-community relations and to acquaint the children with the workings of police in different segments, he added.
For better services to people, he said, Police Communication System has been introduced which would have a uniform system for redressal of complaints from the police station to Central Police Office.
He said such summer camps would continue in the coming years due to a very positive response. He said that SSP Headquarters has endeavoured a lot for the success of this program.
Parents of children lauded this gesture of Islamabad police. Islamabad police is a role model for other law enforcement agencies and those children participating in this summer camp would remember it their entire life. This gesture of Islamabad police would hopefully leave a positive impact on the children who would remember this friendly attitude for years and years, he maintained.
They also thanked Islamabad police for arranging this healthy activity and hoped that further liaison of police with public would increase in future. Later, children presented various skills learned in this camp.
SSP (Headquarters) Muhammad Bin Ashraf said that summer school camps were started in 2003, which proved helpful in promoting a friendly police culture. He added that such camps would continue in the future as well.
