Pakistan attaches great importance to security of Chinese workers: Ch Nisar

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said the government of Pakistan attaches high importance to the security of Chinese workers engaged in the construction of China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.

He expressed these views during his meeting Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong at Punjab House on Monday.

Nisar said Pakistan is fully committed to an early completion of CPEC-related projects that are a testimony of their growing socio-economic partnership. The two countries’ friendly relations are based on mutual trust and respect that meet the common aspirations of their people, he said, adding the Sino-Pak all-round strategic partnership is meant to promote peace, security and prosperity in the region.

The minister regretted inimical forces projecting their deep-rooted and sincere friendship in a negative way. He reiterated that no country or power could become a hurdle in the way of their ever-growing mutually cooperative partnership.

He lauded the Chinese government’s position and its consistent efforts towards peace and security, and its special gesture of goodwill towards the people of Pakistan.

Ambassador Weidong assured that his country fully stands by its Pakistani brothers and sisters in their war against terrorism and extremism.

According to official sources, the two sides during the meeting discussed matters of mutual interests, particularly those relating to CPEC and counter-terrorism.

The ambassador strongly condemned the recent bomb blast in Quetta which took many precious lives. He expressed his sorrow and grief over this grave loss on behalf of the government and the people of China. The ambassador appreciated Pakistani government’s efforts towards peace and security, hoping that these will pave the way for smooth implementation of CPEC.
