NA speaker eulogises outgoing envoy for promoting Pak-Romania ties

National Assembly (NA) Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq eulogised the services of the outgoing Romanian Ambassador Emilian Ion for promoting bilateral relations and friendship between Pakistan and Romania.

Talking to Emilian Ion who paid a farewell call on the Speaker NA in the Parliament House on Monday, Sadiq said that he lauded his role for enhancing mutual ties between the two countries and added that during his stay broad-based relations between Pakistan and Romania received a new impetus.

He outlined that Pakistan’s political leadership has set out to forge deeper cooperation within the region and beyond and further added that relation with Romania is a stepping stone for Pakistan’s broader outreach to the European Union. He said that interaction between legislators from both the countries would provide them opportunities to exchange views and share experiences.  He invited the Romanian investors to take advantage of huge investment opportunities in Pakistan.

Referring to the hospitality extended to Pakistan’s Parliamentary delegation during their visit to Romania, the speaker said that Romania reciprocates Pakistan’s gesture of friendship. Pakistan-Romania relations are based on mutual goodwill and understanding, as well as converging views on important global issues, he added. Sadiq remarked that Pakistan is keen to collaborate with Romania in fast-tracking progress on achieving Sustainable Development Goals under the umbrella of first of its kind SDGs Secretariat established in NA Secretariat. He also underlined the need for cooperation in education, defence production, oil and petroleum, tourism, sustainable energy generation and prevention of human trafficking.
