Like every year, this year too Independence Day was celebrated with great fervour and zeal all across the country with flag hoisting ceremonies, lightening up of buildings and houses, streets sounding national songs and last but not the least people dressing up in green and white to show their love for the country. Certainly all this shows that people of Pakistan are very much patriotic but in addition to these celebrations we must ponder over Jinnah’s dream of Pakistan as well. Although we boast to be independent but the reality is contrary to it and for this no state or government but we as an individual are also responsible. As a citizen of this country where we expect the state or government to provide us with basic fundamental needs there we as citizens have some duties to perform as well. Expecting everything from state or government is not the right way and is not a remedy for all our problems. Instead of merely singing patriotic songs or sharing posts on social media, we need to promise that we will discharge our duties efficiently and diligently. It is hoped that along with government the public at large will also perform its duties only then Quaid’s dream of true Pakistan will materialise into reality.
