FGI teachers without salary for past three months

Non-disbursement of salaries to teachers of Federal Government Institutions (FGI) of Cantt Garrison since the last three months has put their families on the brink of starvation.

According to media reports, as many as 1,237 male and female teachers working in FGI Cantt Garrison Rawalpindi have not been paid their salaries since the last three months and this state of affairs has added to their financial woes; putting at stake the education career of their children. Due to non-payment of salaries to them, their children studying in various schools and colleges have been issued notices by the respective educational institutions for payment of the fee or to face expulsion from the schools.

“Even street shopkeepers and vendors have refused to provide commodities on credit to us due to non-clearance of our last three months dues,” the female teachers said while expressing their grave concerns over being kept deprived of their salaries.

The teachers demanded payment of their salaries soon after re-opening of their educational institutions on expiry of summer vacations, or they will be forced to observe a strike.
