Protest against corruption democratic right of people: Ch Sarwar

Punjab Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Leader and former Punjab governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said that it’s the democratic right of the opposition to launch protests against corruption.

During a media talk at the rally of accountability movement while leaving from Lahore, he said the rulers should end playing games with the country by ending corruption.

“Corruption has become endemic. No institution or office is without corruption at the moment. The claims of eradicating corruption are not true. The government seems to have failed in achieving its targets against corruption,” Sarwar said, and added, “There is an estimated Rs 12 billion of corruption on a daily basis. PTI is fighting a war for the future of the country under the leadership of Imran Khan. PTI will succeed in holding the rulers accountable.”

Sarwar said that the accountability movement is not against any particular individual, but it is against corruption with an aim to hold people accountable before the rule of the law. Protesting against corruption is our democratic and constitutional right which cannot be taken from us, he said. He said every institution of the country is riddled with corruption and if opposition parties protest against corruption then it is neither undemocratic nor unconstitutional.

He said rulers must be compelled to answer the questions that are being raised by the people and the movement against corruption will continue till we get all the answers.

He said Imran khan and people are fighting to save the rights of the people and eradication of corruption under the leadership of Imran Khan. The day is not too far, he said, when Imran Khan will govern the country and supremacy of law and rule of people will be established.
