Indian President Mukherjee’s daughter gets sexually harassed on Facebook, speaks up

Sharmistha Mukherjee, the daughter of President Pranab Mukherjee, on Saturday, took to Facebook to reveal the identity of a man who she alleged sent her “dirty sexual messages”.

She has said that a man called Partha Mandal has been harassing her sending her obscene messages on Facebook chat. She said that instead of simply blocking and reporting him she wanted to expose people like Mandal so that others don’t become his target.

Taking to Facebook, Sharmistha posted the screenshot of his profile and the messages he sent to her.

The Congress leader said she chose to speak up as she thought silence would “encourage him to find other victims”.

“I strongly feel such people should be publicly exposed and humiliated,” wrote Sharmistha.

Her post reads:

Last month, 13 girls had spoken out on social media about being molested by Jadavpur University student

All these girls united together and issued a joint statement on Facebook, accusing Ekalavya Chaudhuri, son of Chandrayee Niyogi, a professor of Department of English of Jadavpur University. Chaudhuri is also a student of the same university, subjecting them to sexual abuse physically and through lewd messages on the social media. Some of the girls have shared screen shots of their online chats with Ekalavya.
