In his last program before the 45-day ban imposed on him by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority, Dr Shahid Masood publicly asked the authority about how he will inform the public if the world happens to end during the duration of the ban.
“I have said time and again, the end of the world is nigh. I mean it could be any day now,” said the anchor. “When it happens, the public will seek out my expert opinion as I inform them of the minute-by-minute development of the end of the world.”
“Yes, Hazrat Israfeel’s horn we will all hear, but I still need to be there to analyse the situation till the qayamat or rapture actually concludes,” he continued. “I don’t believe that the public should be denied my expert opinion. I think all watching this program would agree.”
“I would like all of you to sign a petition on change.org to plead with the government to let me back on air the moment there are signs that the world will end,” he said.
When contacted, Pemra chief Absar Alam said, “Yeah, sure. Whatever.”
