CM congratulates nation on its 70th Independence Day

There is a need to adopt a collective approach to overcome problems faced by Pakistan, says Sharif

 

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated the nation on the 70th Independence Day and said that 14 August is a very important day in the national history. He said that the basic purpose of celebrating the Independence Day is to pay tributes to the sacrifices of martyrs of Pakistan Movement. He said that under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Muslims of the sub-continent made a great struggle for achieving a separate homeland and Pakistan is the fruit of supreme sacrifices and struggle of thousands of Muslims.

In a message on Independence Day, the chief minister said that 14 August is a day of thanksgiving to Allah Almighty. He said the nation should vow on this day that it will learn from the past mistakes and move ahead. He said that there is a need to strive for the achievement of the objectives of creation of Pakistan in the light of principles and ideals of Quaid and Iqbal. He said those who sacrificed their lives for the stability and peace in the country are national heroes and the nation should also pay tributes to them while celebrating this day.

The CM said that even though freedom was achieved, the real objectives of creation of the country have still not been realised. He said that there is also a need to find out why the nations that got freedom after Pakistan have progressed, whereas Pakistan is still facing a number of problems.

Sharif further added that Pakistan is facing issues of energy crisis, poverty, ignorance and lawlessness, and there is a need to adopt a collective approach to overcome these problems in order put the country on the road to progress and development. He said that foundation of a prosperous and developed Pakistan has been laid under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and a dignified status will be ensured for the country by adopting the principles of hard work, honesty and commitment. “No effort will be spared for making Pakistan an Islamic welfare state in the real sense, in accordance with the vision of Quaid and Iqbal,” the CM concluded.
