Khosa denies giving free legal aid to Ayyan

Senior lawyer and PPP leader Latif Khosa has denied that he was offering free legal services to model Ayyan Ali, adding that he would file a defamation case against Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar for lying.

Khosa’s remarks came shortly after the interior minister alleged that air tickets for Ayyan Ail and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari were purchased from the same account.

Nisar further claimed that PPP had demanded the release of Dr Asim Hussain and Ayyan Ali in return of political support for the government.

Without naming Khosa, he said that a senior PPP leader was contesting Ayyan Ali case without any fee.

Khosa denied the allegations.

“Chaudhry Nisar has won the title of Mr. Goebbels by making a false claim about me offering free legal services to Ayan Ali,” Khosa told a private news channel.

“The interior minister has tried to damage my reputation and profession by making false allegations.”

“I am not contesting Ayyan Ali case free of cost,” he said, adding that he was ready to share prove of the fee he received from the model facing money laundering probe.

He said that the interior minister tried to influence a case that was sub judice.

To a question, Khosa said that he was Ayyan Ali’s legal counsel and not her manager.

“I fail to understand whether Chaudhry Nisar Ali was sincere with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif or not,” he said.

The former Punjab governor further said that Chaudhry Nisar should have stepped down after the Quetta carnage if he had any sense of responsibility.
