Youth of Pakistan should participate in politics: NA speaker

National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday said the youth of Pakistan should participate in politics and vote with their conscious at every opportunity that comes in.

He was addressing the opening session of the National Youth Conference titled ‘Youth, Democracy and Pakistan: Road to 2030’, said a press statement issued on Wednesday.

He stressed the importance of tolerance and inclusivity for progress as a nation. He also mourned the loss of lives to global terrorism in Europe, Pakistan and elsewhere. He implored the audience to end child labour and to focus on education instead.

European Union delegation in Pakistan, First Secretary, Anne Kofoed stressed that youth participation in political processes is required for bringing transparency in the political process. She praised the role of YPF to engage young minds in the legislation.

Jakob Rogild Jakobsen, deputy head of the mission in Danish embassy, highlighted the need of inclusive community and said that support of Danish government and people is with Pakistan.

PIPS Executive Director Zafar Ullah Khan appreciated the role of YPF and members of the parliament approving themselves as the ambassadors of democracy for the younger generation.

He also affirmed full support of PIPS for the strengthening of forum and democracy in the fields of research, capacity building and legislative research support. PIPS will continue to bridge the parliament and people of Pakistan by organising similar kind of events in future.
