Since overcharging is a heinous crime therefore, the news that City District Government Lahore has arrested 103 shopkeepers for overcharging is commendable. As per the detail, price control magistrates visited 982 spots and arrested 103 shopkeepers out of which 32 were sent to jail. Moreover, cases have also been registered against many shopkeepers besides imposing a fine of Rs 24,500 on them. The move certainly deserves applause keeping in view the rise in inflation. As a customer, the public at large must pay what is marked for the price instead of any extra or unnecessary price. It is hoped that the administration will continue its crackdown against profiteers in order to avoid the menace of overcharging.
