FIA establishes cell to check child kidnappings, organs trade

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday established a cell in the federal capital dedicated to end children abductions in Punjab and the sale of body organs.

The step was taken after the agency formally launched investigations in the issue.

Director Mazhar-ul-Haq was handed over the responsibility of the cell. According to the FIA spokesperson, the agency is looking for more information regarding the issue.

He has urged the people to inform about any kind of information on 051-2612281 or write to the cell at [email protected].

Informants can also approach the agency on text messages at 0344-5511457.

FIA has established a cell owing to a rising number of abductions in Punjab, mainly Lahore, for organs.

Nearly a dozen such cases have surfaced in the last month and a half; alarming the police whose, chief stated, “Most of the children who go missing, run from their houses due to family troubles and violence.”

He said that not all the children that have gone missing were kidnapped.

According to the police, over 6,700 children were abducted in the past six years, out of which around 6,200 have been recovered.
