Cross-LoC trade between two parts of Kashmir resumed Tuesday after remaining suspended over widespread unrest in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.

The trade route between Poonch and Rawalakot was shut down on August 3 for the second time within a fortnight after massive protests erupted in IOK against the martyrdom of Burhan Wani.

“Trade finally resumed Tuesday. As many as ten vehicles crossed from IOK and more than 20 from Azad Kashmir,” said Mohammad Tanvir, custodian at Chakan da Bagh trade facilitation centre in Poonch.

Cross-LoC trade, which started in 2008, has often been suspended due to animosity between Pakistan and India.

  1. There is no point having a symbolic trade of sending 20 trucks and getting 10 from across the border. It is just farce.
