Rescue worker electrocuted, 2 injured in Lahore

One rescue worker was killed while two others sustained injuries as a steel ladder attached to the rescue vehicle came in contact with live wires in Iqbal Town, Lahore.

According to reports, rescue officials were busy extinguishing a fire in Iqbal Town when electric cables fell on them electrocuting to death one firefighter on the spot while another two were seriously injured.

After a monsoon downpour earlier in Lahore, live wires fell in the stagnant water that was yet to be drained from the street, claiming a local’s life.

Another electrocution-related accident surfaced in Lahore’s Shahdara in July when three of a family came in contact with live wires atop the roof.

As a girl shifted a cot to shed in the morning, the iron cot came in contact with electricity wires and she was electrocuted on the spot. Her father and younger brother also died while trying to assist her.

On the other hand, at least two people were killed today while 42 others sustained injuries in different rain-related incidents in.

The injured have been shifted to the hospitals after which the local administration has pulled its socks up to control the situation.

Heavy rain with thunderstorm has badly disrupted daily routine of the people whereas gusty winds uprooted the trees and sign boards in different areas.
