NA condemns Quetta terror attacks, expresses solidarity with lawyers community

National Assembly Tuesday passed a unanimous resolution strongly condemning the terror act in Quetta.

The resolution moved by Law Minister Zahid Hamid said that the entire nation is aggrieved over the loss of precious lives in the cowardly incident including that of Balochistan Bar President Bilal Anwar Kansi. Condoling the deaths caused by terror acts, the resolution prayed for the early recovery of those injured in the attack.

The resolution said that the house stands by the people of Balochistan, the lawyer fraternity, law enforcement agencies and the media in this hour of grief. The resolution expressed the resolve to foil the nefarious designs of the anti-state elements and sternly deal with the terrorist elements. It said that such incidents cannot deter the resolve of the nation against terrorism.

The House continued discussion on the situation arising out of yesterday’s horrific terrorist attacks in Quetta.

Taking part in the debate, Amjad Ali Khan said the entire nation is aggrieved over the terrorist attacks in Quetta which resulted in the loss of precious lives including those of lawyers and media persons. He said India is involved in sabotage activities in the country and that we should expose its ugly face before the world. He said that National Action Plan should be implemented in letter and spirit in order to avert such acts in the future.

Maulana Gohar Shah said that bomb disposal squad should be fully trained and equipped with modern tools to foil the sordid designs of the terrorists.

Mian Abdul Mannan said that all political parties while sharing the grief of the nation should firm up a joint strategy to cope with the menace of terrorism. He suggested that the lower house of the parliament send a delegation to Quetta to express solidarity with the bereaved families.

Akram Khan Durrani termed the Quetta tragedy as an attack on the whole country. He said the attack was aimed at undermining the multi-billion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

Abdul Sattar Bachani said it is the responsibility of the government and state institutions to ensure security of lives and properties of the people. He said grievances of smaller provinces should be addressed on immediate basis.

Tahira Aurangzeb suggested the members should give their one month salary in compensation to the bereaved families of Quetta tragedy. She said that peace is imperative to achieve the goal of progress and prosperity in the country. She said all the political parties should rise above their differences and get united to foil the designs of enemies.

Dr Fauzia Hameed emphasised the need for promotion of harmony and unity in the society. She said that parliament should pass effective legislation to counter the menace of terrorism.

Rajab Ali Baloch appreciated the sacrifices rendered by the security forces in war on terror. He said it is because of their performance that the number of terrorist acts has reduced.
