Punjab govt withdraws decision of depositing admission fee in banks

The Punjab government withdrew its decision of depositing fee by the students into banks in connection with online admissions besides allowing the colleges to collect fee in their respective offices in wake of security threats.

It was decided that no additional charges will be collected from the students on this count and they will be provided the receipt in token of collection of fee from them.

It is said in the directives issued  by the Punjab public instruction director that students in large number will throng to the banks to deposit the admission fee after display of their merit lists in the colleges in connection with online admission. During their massive gathering in the banks, some untoward incident can take place. The bank management had also expressed such apprehensions.

The directives said that committees will be constituted for monitoring of the process. The college administration can collect the fee fixed by the government and charging any additional fee will be banned. A receipt should be issued to every student from whom fee will be received and it should be mentioned clearly on the receipt under what head the fee has been collected.
