Murad Shah regularises 701 NPIW officers

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday regularised the services of 701 officers of National Programme for Improvement of Waters Courses (NPIW).

These officers of NPIW were appointed in 2005 on contract basis in grade 16 to 18 under a foreign-funded project to line water courses in the province. When the project was completed, the salaries of these officers were stopped.

The Sindh government extended their contract from time to time but the chief minister taking a bold step regularised the services of 701 officers. He congratulated the officers on their regularisation and hoped that they would be working honestly and dedicatedly.

Meanwhile, the chief minister directed the board of revenue to conduct a survey of the government land under encroachment and file report. “It must be a detailed report containing the areas, size, worth and location of government lands illegally grabbed by land mafia,” the CM issued direction to Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) Rizwan Memon.

He also directed him to frame a policy under which the concerned police stations would be held responsible if government land is grabbed in their jurisdiction.

The chief minister told the SMBR that there were some reports in the media that the land mafia was still busy in ‘China Cutting’. “This is enough. For God sake, tell them (land mafia) to have mercy on this city, otherwise I won’t have mercy on them,” he urged the SMBR.
