Stranded Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia on Sunday received cheques from the government as a financial assistance for their families.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved Rs 50,000 for each family who has been trapped in Saudi Arabia after which, PM Secretariat staffers and overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources Development ministries have distributed cheques among the victims.
The affected people have thanked the government for their assistance and requested to prepare a strategy for their return.
Moreover, Saudi authorities have also directed the companies to pay the salaries of the employees so that they can fly back to their country.
Earlier, Embassy officials provide them with a few bags of rice weighing a kilogramme each which are not enough for around 240 of them, they said.
Pakistani workers have been trapped in Dammam for more than two months after their iqamas expired. They were not given monthly salaries due to financial hang-ups of their employer, M/s. Saad Contracting and Construction Company.
