Hostilities between the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf and the Japanese cartoon character Doraemon ended on Saturday when the latter decided to join the political party.

“We will not like to speak of the disagreements we might have had in the past,” said Dr Shireen Mazari of the PTI. “Those were minor irritants. The more important thing is the long struggle against this corrupt political system and to that end, those differences should be put aside.”

“Yes,” replied the cartoon character, speaking in Japanese that was translated into Hindi by an interpreter. “We have decided to put our differences aside to work for whatever it is that the PTI wants.”

A beaming Imran Khan was standing next to the cartoon character as he made his statement.

The development was immediately criticised by political opponents. “This is the same story all over. Once somebody jumps into the PTI’s washing machine, there is no stain on the very same guy they used to criticise for basically the same set of faults that he will continue to have,” said the PML-N’s Talal Chaudhry.

“You don’t believe me? Watch this,” Chaudhry continued. “I hereby formally join the PTI.” Within minutes, KP education minister Atif Khan was seen on TV congratulating Chaudhry for finally joining the party.

“We always wanted Talal Chaudhry to join our party. He is an honest, diligent leader who will always work for the betterment of the country. This is the reason why he always felt ill at ease over at the League,” said Atif Khan.
