Dengue cases on the rise in city

At least 46 more dengue viral fever cases have been detected in Sindh province in a week, out of which 40 were reported from Karachi, taking the patients toll to 887 since January 2016.

As per weekly report issued by Prevention and Control Programme for Dengue in Sindh, 46 new dengue fever cases surfaced in Sindh province from 29 July to 4 August 2016. Three cases were reported from Hyderabad and one each from Sukkur, Khairpur and Shikarpur.

In Karachi, seven cases were reported from District Central, five from District South, two from District West, 20 from District East, four from District  Korangi and two from District Malir.

This year, total 887 dengue fever cases were reported in Sindh province since January 2016, out of which 818 were reported from Karachi, 18 from Hyderabad, six from Sukkur, five from Ghotki, four each from Tando Muhammad Khan, Mirpurkhas, Khairpur and Larkana, three each from Dadu, Tharparkar, Shaheed Benazirbad and Shikarpur , two each from Badin, Thatta, Jamshoro,Umer Kot, Sanghar and Naushero Feroz. One death was reported from dengue fever from Shaheed Benazirabad this year.
