She condemned the poisoning of hundreds of stray dogs in Karachi carried out by the officials recently. An operation has been started citywide to cull thousands of stray dogs using poison tablets hidden in meat. The action has drawn criticism from animal rights activists, but city authorities claim it is necessary to protect residents.

Dr Seemin Jamali, the head of the emergency room stated that Karachi’s Jinnah Hospital treated 6,500 people bitten by dogs and has seen 3,700 cases so far this year.

Since Aseefa is a human and animal rights activist she frequently raises her voice against incidents of animal cruelty.

She has also in the past spoken up about Kaavan, a behaviorally-challenged elephant in Islamabad Zoo who had been kept in solitary confinement and chained around all four legs by the zoo management for years.

  1. Has Aseefa I ever walked in a Karachi street where stray dogs bite innocent children and handicapped just because the City administration does not pick garbage lying for weeks on which these dogs feed.

    • She should ask her Dad and brother to ask PPP government of Sind to find a solution to get rid of the stray dogs – if not culling. There is also an acute shortage of anti-venom serums in hospitals particularly interior of Sind. Only issuing statements for advertisement does not work.

  2. "Dr Seemin Jamali, the head of the emergency room stated that Karachi’s Jinnah Hospital treated 6,500 people bitten by dogs and has seen 3,700 cases so far this year."- this statistics is not good at all and while it is unarguable that the lives of human beings are far more important that the lives of dogs, stray dogs abound in all nation around the world and they do not go about biting people therefore i think the authorities need to find out why these dogs are biting people rather than resort to mindless killing: about dog facts.
