After having won several accolades for her singing talent, Sunidhi Chauhan is now keen on becoming a Bollywood actress.
The 32-year-old singer recently made her acting debut with a short film which is a fantasy thriller based in an urban landscape, recently released on the digital platform.
She reported earlier that she was not quite prepared for the role, although she has been aspiring to be an actor since childhood. “Earlier I wasn’t ready to act but now I have reached a stage where I know this is the right time. I was inclined to acting since childhood. Now I want to do a lot of Bollywood films.”
“I am waiting for good roles and offers to come. I won’t take up anything, I’ll choose the right script and would definitely like to do a full length feature film,” she said.
The singer with hit tracks such as Crazy Kiya Re, Kamli and Sheila ki jawani said she was offered a film when she was just 19.
“When I was 19-year-old, I had an offer to act. But I turned it down because I wasn’t ready for it. I wanted to focus on playback singing only. Now I know for sure I can give equal attention to both, singing and acting,” she said.
Talking about her recent short film, Sunidhi said she enjoyed the acting experience and realised that the process requires a lot of hard work and determination.
“It was an amazing experience shooting for the film. Since it is a short film, I didn’t have the burden of a feature length movie. What I did realise was, whether long or short, film making requires a lot of hard work, dedication and patience,”
Although, she had initially been hesitant on acting, she is now overwhelmed by the response she received.
“Initially it was very difficult. But I enjoyed it a lot. I worked from the heart. People have praised it, and I am happy. Even seasoned actors have said they liked it, so it is overall a breath of fresh air for me, as well as the audience.”
