Actor John Abraham, who has never failed to surprise audiences with his action-packed stunts, tough looks and disarming smile, says one needs to have a strong attitude to be an action hero.
“When it comes to action I give a lot of inputs, I have done this from the start of my career because I understand this (action) space easily. It (action) comes very naturally to me. In an action hero, it’s not just about what action skills he has but about the attitude he has,” John told Indian media.
Over the years, John has created an action image of himself and he says it’s not that difficult to maintain it. “Having a body comes naturally to me. I don’t have to show my body always. I am built in a certain way. It is easy to carry it off. My physicality is so overpowering that it takes away from everything else. People felt I was perfect in Dishoom,” he said.
“I always maintain that to be accepted as an action star, you have to be an action hero first. You have to have the physicality, attitude and you have to know that when you turn and look at somebody, that person should feel that this is the end.
“If you don’t have that, then you can’t be an action hero,” John told Indian media over the phone from Mumbai.
The Dishoom star feels that the action stars the world over are Sylvester Stallone, Vin Diesel, The Rock (Dwayne Johnson).
“These guys save the world… Biggest action heroes are not Kung Fu guys who do back flips in a room,” he said and added: “It’s about the attitude and saving the world. I think you need to have that attitude.”
John will next be seen in the sequel of the 2011 film Force. He says it will have “real action”.
“Force 2 has got very different action. It has very real action… The scale of action is one notch higher than what you have already seen…Yes, we have upped the action quotient,” he said.
