The Punjab government has decided to induct 5,000 security personnel for the security of foreigners and Chinese working on different mega projects including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
According to a Punjab government spokesperson, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued directives to immediately induct 5,000 security personnel under the Special Protection Unit (SPU).
“They will be deployed on security duty of foreigners and Chinese nationals working on the CPEC and other mega projects in the province”, he said.
The spokesperson further said that a Punjab government’s cabinet committee will undertake visits of Chinese projects every month and will review security arrangements and present report to the chief minister.
