CM reviews progress on Sahiwal coal power plant

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting on Wednesday which reviewed progress on Coal Power Plant Sahiwal and the steps taken for the supply of coal for the project.

Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Mir Hasil Khan Bazango, Federal Secretary Water and Power, Secretary to Prime Minister Chairman Port Qasim Authority, Chairman Planning and Development, Chief Executive Officer Pakistan Railways, MD NTDC, MD Huang Group of China Wu Chun Sheng, Vice President Huang Sheng Dong Power Generation Company, Chief Executive Officer Huang Shen Dong Ruyai and concerned federal and provincial officials were present on the occasion.

Addressing the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif said that Sahiwal Coal Power Plant Project is being completed speedily and that it will be completed far before the stipulated period of December 2017. He said that there is no example of working with such speed on this project of such productive capacity in the history.

The speed and quality of the project is unprecedented, he added. He said that the work of supply of coal from Karachi will also be completed in fixed period and necessary infrastructure for this purpose will be timely completed. He said that this project will become great masterpiece of Pak-China friendship.

The chief minister said that all the affairs are being completed timely due to best coordination of concerned federal and provincial institutions. He said that speed of work on Sahiwal Coal Power Plant is unprecedented. Officials of Chinese companies assured completion of the project as early as possible.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presided over another high level meeting which reviewed progress on supply of gas for 3600 megawatt gas power projects being set up in Punjab and matters of construction of terminal.
