LESCO officers suspended over unannounced load shedding

Minister of the State for Water and Power (W&P) Abid Sher Ali taking the notice of complaints of unannounced load shedding suspended, a superintending engineer (SE), sub-divisional officer (SDO) and two meter readers of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) on Monday.

Abid Sher Ali held an open Katcheri at Shalimar Grid Station in Lahore to hear the complaints of the general public.

Hundreds of complaints were received against LESCO on the occasion and the minister expressing his anguish over the officials of the power supply company, issued directives on the spot.

He suspended SE LESCO Eastern Circle, Rana Mujahid Saeed, SDO Shalimar Amjad Hussain and two meter readers and directed them to report to the head office.

Abid Sher Ali said that those responsible for unannounced load-shedding would not be spared at any cost and whoever is found involved in negligence towards duty would be brought to court of justice.

He said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Sharif has clearly directed to hear the complaints of masses regarding power supply and to remove the concerns of the consumers at the earliest.

No comprise will be made in smooth power supply to masses and taking action against officials involved in negligence, he added.

Abid Sher Ali said that he will pay surprise visits to the offices of the power distribution companies to get first hand information. The state minister admitted that load shedding was being conducted due to gap between supply and demand but said that unannounced load shedding will not be tolerated at all.
